Britain To Return Chagos Islands To Mauritius, Resolving Longstanding Dispute

Britain announced on Thursday that it will cede sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius in a deal that ensures the continued operation of the UK-U.S. military base on Diego Garcia. The agreement may also open the door for the return of residents who were displaced decades ago.
